Dr. Ciaran McAleenan
Ciaran, a chartered civil engineer working in the industry since 1978, has designed and managed water industry civil engineering projects (treatment plants, pipelines, pumping stations). He developed and implemented health and safety and road design standards, while working on strategy and policy implementation in the road construction industry. Ciaran managed major road construction projects before joining the faculty at the Ulster University in 2010.
An award winning international speaker and author, he is a prolific researcher, a qualified HE teacher, trainer and safety professional. He has presented at international conferences in four continents including World Congresses, National Congresses and International Safety Research Commission Conferences. On behalf of Korean Occupational Safety and Health Administration he hosted a symposium on risk management for the World Congress on Occupational Safety and Health in Seoul, 2008 and in 2015 he hosted CIB W99 commission conference, featuring the world’s best researchers in construction safety and health.

Our Team
In his role as lead consultant Philip has been actively researching and publishing materials and papers on safety law, principals and practices, managing safety, emergency planning and many practical aspects of safety on-site. He has led executive level seminars in Ireland, the UK, USA, Canada and Australia, in 2005, 2008 and 2011 he presented to the World Congress on OSH, organizing and leading a seminar at the 2008 congress on Korea and jointly made 5 presentations at the 2011 Congress in Istanbul.
He has extensive experience in social, economic and human rights issues and has presented to conflict resolution conferences in respect of the NI and Moldovan peace processes. He has developed and delivered a professional ethics reasoning programme for undergraduates.
